For the first time in the history of watchmaking, two Métier d'Art - the ancestral Sơn Mài technique of Vietnamese polished lacquer, and silver leaf gilding - come together to create unique pieces named Sơn Mài Silver Leaf. Each dial is crafted as a work of art in its own right and requires more than 15 hours of manual labor.

VIETNAMESE POLISHED LACQUER
Sơn Mài lacquer, or Vietnamese polished lacquer, is one of the oldest and most emblematic traditional arts of Vietnam. This ancestral art consists of meticulously layering and polishing natural lacquer to achieve a lustrous, mirror-like surface. This technique is applied to all our dials by our artisans in Vietnam.

PURE SILVER LEAF
To bring texture and depth to our dials, we have chosen, following Vietnamese tradition, to integrate pure silver leaves onto the base of our dials, before applying the pigmented lacquer. A complex and delicate method, giving AWAKE watches a deep, unique, and striking visual effect.

LA JOUX-PERRET FOR AWAKE
Renowned for its reliability and a power reserve of 68 hours, our La Joux-Perret G101 movement stands out with a tungsten oscillating mass, custom-designed for AWAKE, featuring an elegant interplay of reliefs and hollows as well as high-end finishes for a powerful visual effect.
The caliber is surrounded by a textured ring with a “clous de Paris” motif and protected by a sapphire crystal. Finally, the symbols of water resistance (fish) and 316L recycled steel (anvil), engraved inside the horns, bring a unique and original touch, proving that it is possible to do watchmaking very seriously without to take yourself seriously!

INNOVATIVE LUME
More than a year of testing and R&D was necessary to provide the Sơn Mài collection with a luminous signature Super-LumiNova® BGW9, innovative, unprecedented, and inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of chiaroscuro.
The complex construction of our indexes and hands creates a subtle play of light and shadow and generates backlighting effects that enhance the depth and reflections of the lacquer, for a unique visual experience.
The taste for detail
ELEGANCE, COMFORT AND ROBUSTNESS
The bezel, the upper part of the case, and the lugs are polished, just like the chamfer running from one lug to the other, giving the whole piece a slender appearance. The case sides are brushed horizontally for a subtle and modern contrast.
The crown alternates between polished and brushed finishes for a refined look and a comfortable grip, while its polished end highlights the brand symbol, called "Genesis." The latter represents the four natural elements — air, earth, water, and fire — harmoniously intertwined and embodies the balance between innovation, tradition, and respect for the environment that guides each creation of AWAKE.

To enhance the watches in the Sơn Mài collection, we have chosen to collaborate with a world-renowned bracelet manufacturer, renowned for its constant search for the best possible quality and sharing many of our values: DELUGS.
Our choice fell on an elegant gray Nubuck leather (20mm) which will develop the beauty of its character over time. Rubber lined and stitched, our bracelet is equipped with quick pumps called “Presto” and mounted on a brand new pin buckle in 316L recycled steel (16mm) specially developed for this new collection.
